My parents immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the late ’80s. I was born in Detroit and grew up in nearby Wayne. I left town at 18 to study English at DePaul University in Chicago. I came back home a decade later.
I report stories about people that explore themes of altruism, equity, opportunity, social connectedness, well-being, resistance, and cultures of care.
I also edit analysis and commentary about public policy issues in Detroit and Michigan.
